Cold = Baking

Cold = Baking

In addition to school being cancelled today, school was cancelled yesterday, mid day due to the impending storm. Not so much snow per say but indeed...it was COLD!

What to do on a frigid day you ask? Bake of course! Luckily for me, I have quite the selection of rolling pins to choose from.

A sugar cookie is the simplest recipe that exists and provides a medium for immediate change. Add some food coloring, add some extracts or use a fun cookie cutter to change it up.

I recently discovered LorAnn Oils and purchased a Red Velvet flavoring. Not much of a flavor but the color was exquisite. Just a few drops LorAnn oils and poof, there's yet another change for your cookies!

Fantastic Facebook Resource: "Molded Cookies of the World- Artisan Bakers and Confections"

You know that feeling when you find a goldmine and you shake your head in denial that you've just discovered it? That's how I felt when I discovered an outstanding group on Facebook called, Molded Cookies of the World - Artisan Bakers and Confections".

If I haven't said it before, I'm not really a baker and for goodness sake, I'm certainly not a cook. But there's something about baking cookies that just plugs in my happy plug. I remember my grandma and the lazy days just spent around her kitchen table. She'd bake everything from donuts, cakes and pies to I'm imagining...cookies. Although I can't remember actually eating one of her cookies, I somehow adore cookies and they automatically remind me of her.

Anyhow, I stumbled onto this Facebook group and I have learned so much. Almost daily there is a new post from a member posting their magnificent creations and the best part? There is a "file" section where you can select any of the recipes to use and try. From sugar cookies to names of cookies you cannot pronounce, there are recipes galore!

See that lovely picture with the flowers surrounding it? Nope, I didn't bake that masterpiece...but one day I will! One of the talented bakers from the FB group just recently posted that. Can you image going to a wedding, baby shower or an event and seeing something like that? It looks like art!

I tried the Springerle Shortbread (below) recipe and oh my goodness, it was spectacular. Like me, you  may be a bit intimidated but one recipe at a time!

As always, I'd love to see what's in your oven!

Happy baking!

Pottery - who knew?

Pottery - who knew?

When we first started making rolling pins, we thought they'd just be for cookies. That's what everyone bakes, right? Little did we know what started out with the purpose of baking cookies could morph into so much more.

From sugar, springerle, shortbread, peanut butter, chocolate roll out cookies to even chocolate chipolte cookies, these pins are cute little work horses with all things sweet and sugary.

But when I befriended a potter named Jill Holland from Twinkletree Pottery, magic happened. You know when you meet someone and start talking, then you realize your world is really small? They have the same interests, you admire their talents and wonder why you never met them before? When you talk to one another your eyes start widening and you start talking over one another because you're so excited? Yup, this is Jill and me.

Well she makes exquisite pottery. Her love of her work and interest in creating custom pottery is her true passion. From drawing in nature where she'll collect leaves and twigs to make imprints to using our rolling pins, they are true conversation pieces that bring joy and delight to all that see them!

Private labels - not just for alcohol

Private labels - not just for alcohol

The Clever Cow, a boutique in Elizabeth, Colorado has carried our rolling pins as of early 2019. Her store is filled with all things yummy...from local candles to goats lotion, she has a shop filled with fun and unique items that you can't get just anywhere.

As I was walking out of her store she suggested I design a Christmas Truck and Christmas Farm Animals. As it was her idea, I thought it was fair that she be the only boutique to carry these exclusive rolling pins. Folks, the rest is history. These babies are flying out her door.

Which brings me to my point, if you'd like a custom pin created for you, I can do that. If you need a custom pin designed for your boutique and you want to chat private label, I can do that too.

In the meantime, check out The Clever Cow , 286 S. Main Street, Elizabeth CO. Or give them a jingle, 719-675-0424. Better yet, if you're in Colorado, stop by her shop to pick your local honey, goat lotion, tea towels, leather purses, greeting cards to so much more! Oh, and don't forget to grab yourself a Christmas Truck and Christmas Farm Animal rolling pin...only available at The Clever Cow!
